Miss Abby broke her arm today...
Abby jumped off a toy in the basement and landed on her arm/wrist. She had a whiny cry at first, but then just continued to cry, saying "It hurts. My arm hurts. Hold me mommy." Her wrist area was so swollen and she didn't want me to touch it. After several X-rays and a really nice doctor's expertise, Abby's arm was splinted and will be casted for 4 weeks on Saturday (after the swelling goes down)! She was the most cooperative patient, especially after getting a sucker :) The doctor called it a "distal radial fracture" which basically means her radius (arm) bone was fractured. It's really a minor injury, but enough to cause her plenty of pain and a cast! She should heal just fine he says.
She said a few comments that I want to share: "Don't be mad at me." "Will I get a shot?" "Will they slice my hand off?" "Can we take this off my arm now?"
So much for swimming lessons... Ironically I was going to register Abby for gymnastics today. I guess she'll have to wait :) I actually have to admit that I look forward to these next 4+ weeks cuz I kind of like "babying" my 4 year old! It has already been interesting trying to get her shirt off and another on! Bathing will be challenging, as will other things! Keep Abby in your prayers for good healing.
